Did you know this about the IW Knights of Columbus?

During the summer we too often heard verbal assaults on the character and legacy of Christopher Columbus.  Additionally, we viewed numerous deliberate attempts to damage – some which lead to destruction - to a number of Columbus statutes throughout our country.  Naturally, many Americans are baffled by why there is such a concerted effort to spoil the legend of an American icon.  And of course, as a very large group the Knights of Columbus are equally distressed.

Recently, we published a number of the resolutions which were issued at our annual Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention.  The following is a quote from one of the resolutions which is entitled: In Honor of Christopher Columbus.

“At the height of the nativist and anti-Catholic sentiment of the late 19th century, Columbus was chosen as the Order’s namesake because he was one of the few Catholics considered a hero of American history, and because the founding members of the Order believed the explorer symbolized that faithful Catholics can also be patriotic American citizens”.

One thing seems certain - it appears that many of our citizens have forgotten (or never learned) the true story of the extraordinary background, courage and foresight of the great explorer Christopher Columbus.  In order to help with a re-education project of Columbus the Knights of Columbus have produced a video (28 minutes+ in length) entitled: Courage and Conviction: A True Story of Columbus.

The producers describe the film as follows: "A thorough examination of the life and legacy of the fearless discoverer of America, this film provides insight into Christopher Columbus' genius as a sea navigator and his deep desire to bring all nations to Christ."

We ask you to watch this film and consider sharing it with your family, relatives and associates.
