— Second Sunday of Easter (or Sunday of Divine Mercy)
Did you know this about the IW Knights of Columbus?
Over the next several weeks we will present a sample of recent emails - known as “favors received” - which have been received by the Father Michael J. McGivney Guild. They show that many Knights, their families along with many others turn to Blessed Michael as a friend, asking for his help with matters large and small.
2022-12-29 - Favor received
My spouse found work praying to Father McGivney. This has been the third time that he has answered my prayers for different family members. I am truly thankful.
2022-12-24 Austin, Texas - Prayer answered
My daughter’s mom (ex-spouse) moved to Austin about two years ago to be closer to our daughter who has Down’s Syndrome. She was on the verge of moving to Florida because the rents in Austin have skyrocketed. Her rent was going up nearly $200 per month with the lease renewal. I asked Blessed Michael McGivney to help my daughter’s mom find affordable housing here in Austin. My prayer was answered when a new property manager came aboard recently where my daughter’s mom lives and she has kept her rent the same.
2022-12-16 - St. John's, NL Canada - Good medical report for my father
My Dad is 84 years old and has been ill with bladder cancer for the last number of years. I asked for Father McGiveny's intercession that my Dad receive a good medical report. He saw his doctor today and there is no sign of cancer.
2022-12-13 - Help with a medical bill
I was hit by a pickup truck in 2020 and hospitalized. One of the bills from the hospital kept failing to be paid by my insurance, for over a year, maybe over two years, to the point where it seemed like it would never be sorted out and we would have to pay this large bill. I kept praying to Fr. McGivney because of his connection to the Knights of Columbus, which is partially an insurance company, (as well as Mary, St. Joseph, and others), and eventually the bill was sorted out. Praise be to God!
2022-12-07 Ocean Isle Beach - Recovery
Our dear friend and neighbor Joyce and husband John -- both good Catholics -- decided to move from NC to MD because of a severe pulmonary problem Joyce had, so she could have it treated at Johns Hopkins. An operation ensued and she got an infection as a result which prompted a small heart attack and a stroke. John told a neighbor that he felt like all he could do was watch Joyce die. I encouraged all our neighbors to pray, and I focused my prayers on Fr. McGivney. After several dicey days, Joyce started to recover.
2022-12-05Knoxville, TN - received a miracle
I collapsed at home suffering a cardiac arrest. My heart struggled to restart and I was shocked several times. It quivered for nine minutes in the ambulance. I was in a coma and on a ventilator while undergoing hypothermia treatment to save my brain and organs. I was not expected to live. Several prayers were offered through the intercession of Father Michael McGivney by Bishop Vann Johnston and many others. I survived and have recovered completely. Truly a miracle!
2022-12-05 New Jersey - Healing
A dear friend’s teenage granddaughter found a tumor growing on her neck. After they prayed daily to Father McGivney for a successful treatment, doctors were able to shrink the tumor with medication to a small size so it could be excised. After four months, there has been no recurrence.
