Annually, our Council proudly cooperates in a service project known as Felice Cuores. The name means “Happy Heart” in Italian. The event is a monthly party for adults – ages 18 and older – who are mentally handicapped or developmentally disabled. These parties are held on Saturday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 during September through May. The permanent venue is the dining room at St. Claire of Assisi Parish in Ellisville. The admission fee is a modest $5.00 charge. Soda, snacks, door prizes are provided along with a DJ. There is no charge for parents or care-givers that choose to stay.

All the dances are supported and chaperoned by the Knights of Columbus and the Ladies Auxiliary from the council’s of the seven parishes in our district: Incarnate Word, St. Claire of Assisi, Christ Prince of Peace, Holy Infant, Ascension, St. Albert Roe, and the Marian Council of St. Joseph of Manchester.

Our council’s long-time permanent representative and committee chairman is Ron Weiss. Not surprisingly, Ron was recently selected as our Knight of the Month for his work on the Felice Cuores project along his efforts in many other council events. Congratulations, Ron!

Recently, the Felice project lost its founder and leader with the passing of Bob Villaire. All Knights, and anyone who knew Bob, admired him. Our council would like to acknowledge Bob’s efforts with the Felice Cuores project and also offer our condolences to his family and the St. Claire of Assisi Council. God Bless a true Knight – Worthy Sir Knight Bob Villaire – and may He receive him into the haven of eternal peace!
